Chouette aux plumes 1951
‘Chouette aux plumes’ (Feathered Owl) is a famous ceramic vase conceived in 1951 by the Spanish master Pablo Picasso (1881–1973). Produced in collaboration with the renowned Madoura Pottery workshop in Vallauris, France, owls were among Picasso's most beloved and recurring animal motifs.
A turned, three-dimensional white earthenware (terre de faïence) ceramic vase. Picasso ingeniously utilized the inherent shape of the vessel to mimic the stout body, tapered posture, and upright stance of an owl.
